This is a serious meditation on the nature of justice and the conflict between varying belief systems, in the form of a Wonder Woman and Batman comic with a plot that is (literally) from Greek tragedy. One of the best stories ever told! Her life is one of service and duty--and she likes it that way. A young woman vowed her loyalty to WW and Diana is required to care for and protect her. Batman and Wonder Woman come into conflict when a young woman, wanted for involvement in a crime seeks sanctuary at Diana's Amazon embassy. And yet so many people do.
I thought that this story was very interesting, a glimpse into WW's classical Greek roots. I recommned this story if you're a fan of Batman and Wonder Woman. My sister likes Batman, as so do I, and I have always seen this comic as a good story and I figured that she would really appreciate it. Despite some rumors, The Hiketeia is not about a battle royal between the Amazon and The Dark Knight, instead it is about the laws and duties of the Amazons and the Greeks and how they bind Wonder Woman even in the modern world.Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia by Greg Rucka is one of the few Wonder Woman story lines that I liked and no it actually has little to do with the appearance of Batman in it. Start by marking “Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia” as Want to Read: I really liked "The Hiketeia".
I want to get my younger sister into comic books and I think Wonder Woman is a good role model and something that my sister would enjoy reading. Oh, and also Wonder Woman beats up Batman.Wow, that's not at all what I expected. and you almost want her to be safe! I thought this comic paper-book would have been better.
In this comic, a young woman begs for Wonder Woman's protection, and she grants it. Could have been so much better.
Going into this it was not what I was expecting, Danielle is very interesting character, and you learn why she did what she did. WONDER WOMAN: THE HIKETEIA is a brilliantly orchestrated modern Greek tragedy of duty and vengeance. The demands placed upon her by hospitality and honor place her in direct opposition to Batman. Even though in the past some writers just haven't go it.
Quick but not easy read, with beautiful art throughout.Very good! So quite often, we see Superman and Batman go head to head for whatever reason, but very rarely do we see Batman and Wonder Woman fight, this one being one of the few! I'd say it's a must-read for Wonder Woman fans.
As its been said Wonder Woman is the spirit of truth, that's the core of the character, as long as you stay true to the core of the character you cant go wrong. Wonder Woman pretty much just destroys him. I really liked "The Hiketeia". Her life is one of service and duty--and she likes it that way. The Hiketeia is a vow of servitude. WW refused because of the Hiketeia and a fight between Diana and Batman ensues. A young woman finds herself in Batman’s crosshairs when she decides to mete out her own personal brand of justice against the men who are responsible for her sister’s death. There's not much action, but the story is still compelling. Great story. So the story is of a Woman named Danielle who has murdered several men which has gotten Batman's attention; needing protection she performs Hiketeia, an ancient Greek custom, which bounds Wonder Woman as her protector; that's as you can imagine how her and Batman fight.

Before he started his three-year run on Wonder Woman (volume 2), with #195 in 2003, Greg Rucka started his work on the character a year before that in the one-shot Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia. Basically it was a Greek Tragedy in comic book form. Really??
