The storms are expected to begin in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties between 7 and 8 p.m. with the risk growing as it gets later and passing through after midnight. The National Weather Service issued the watch shortly before 4 p.m. for portions of Florida and Alabama, as a line of severe storms is expected to roll through the area.The line of thunderstorms followed by a cold front is heading for the Florida Panhandle late Thursday night, said Brandon Black, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Mobile, Ala. Crews are still assessing and they expect numbers will grow.Governor Rick Scott has issued an Executive Order declaring a state of emergency for Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties as a result of the tornado.
