You slowly get the full picture of all characters and which things made them into the people they are at the beginning of the book. The Lens chapter felt like falling in love. We got insight into the characters and were given reasons why things happened, but in reverse! . What a ride. Please try your request again later. It is real writing that gets to you. It is the tale of two people, each broken in their own way coming together in the hope of healing the other without realising that you have to heal yourself first. This premise is SO GOOD.
Needless to say when I heard the reading of the chapter Muscle Memory I went and ordered it right away. The premise is unusual in that the first chapter begins with the breakup of a long-term relationship, and each chapter takes the reader further back in time. Hours later and i keep thinking about how her life turned out to be, if she accomplished all of her dreams, if her mental health improved, if she found someone that can be her rock, and whom she doesn’t feel like she needs to constantly shield from the world.
June 11th 2020 You Had Me at Hola The realness and the rawness of the story is all too familiar and the humour interspersed throughout keeps one giggling between the sad tears that might flow. I LOVED this book with all my heart, all my soul, and everything else with it.
Reading the last pages it genuinely felt like the beginning of a fairytale but sadly, this is not what life is about.
Hazel’s just announced her debut book, Out Of Love (Picture: Hazel Hayes, Out of Love book) YouTuber Hazel Hayes is most well-known for directing and …
The premise of a love story told backwards sounded intriguing.
Some parts made me realise its not just me who overthinks things a ridiculous amount (the leaving the red shoes out part really got me). Needless to say when I heard the reading of the I knew I was going to love this book before I even got it. Some might be annoyed with knowing how the relationship will end and having to go through the whole relationship. So the protagonist, at the end, is the result of any 'growing' we're about to read about, and at the start she's a total mess, so there's your answer to how I feel about the structure. Of you're in need of an atypical I loved this book with my whole heart. Dispatched from and sold by Amazon. At all! It was such a novel way to write about a relationship ending and the poignant ending was just right! The book doesn’t go anywhere, the first chapter is the break up and the last chapter is how they met.
There's no build!
He definitely dealt with trauma on his own and we can't ignore that, but we all go through tough shit without channeling that trauma into disrespect towards women. The writing felt very natural and at times I caught myself feeling as if I was there with them. For example, how he thought that he can control what our heroine does with her body, or how he sexualized her when she confessed to him that she thought that she might be bisexual. Now, about their relationship as a whole... Wow. As a young woman boxes up her ex-boyfriend's belongings and prepares to see him one last time, she wonders where it all went wrong, and whether it was ever right to begin with.
Too many long winded descriptions and not enough substance.
Our character deals with anxiety and depression and in the end she is brave enough to go see a therapist in hopes of “fixing” herself.
. yup, some of his action just can't be justified. Wth! Every time I was reading it I was very aware of how fast I was devouring every word. Prime members get unlimited deliveries at no additional cost
Like Bridget Jones and Sylvia Plath setting the world to rights over a supermarket vino' 'Hazel is a beautifully brazen, headstrong writer who portrays realities with a wonderful wink and wry smile in everything she does' 'Hazel manages to explore the untangling of a relationship in a way that feels as if you're reading a journal entry. I understand the book tries to explain away his flaws but I really couldn’t bring myself to like him. Having graduated from Dublin City University with a degree in journalism, she went on to study creative writing at The Irish Writers' Centre, before finally finding her feet on YouTube and honing her craft as a screenwriter through numerous short films and sketches. Amazing. So at the start, the young narrator is packing up her ex-boyfriend’s belongings and preparing for a last meet-up, and then as the study unfolds we go right back to when they first meet and fall in love. www.youtube.com/user/ChewingSand @TheHazelHayes I also found it difficult to separate the characters in the book from Hazels real life given her public break up with Ollie.
It was a unique concept and it looked like it would be the perfect book to curl up with.I don't know very much about Miss Hazel Hayes but I was very excited to read Out of Love! I think this just wasn't the book for you. Makes your heart hurt but in a good way? But to me, this was a really interesting exploration of love, life, and trauma. Not even 50 pages in I was already messaging anyone I knew who loved books and spilling my love for it over to them and begging them to read it too so they could experience it. The story starts with the ending and works backwards. You slowly get the full picture of all characters and whicThis premise is SO GOOD.
Her eight-part thriller, PrankMe, won Series of the Year at SITC, as well as the award for Excellence in Storytelling at Buffer Festival in Toronto. The book then goes in reverse, recounting events until we get to the end of the book and the day she meets TheoI was really excited to read this book and would like to preface by saying that Hazel is an absolute gem.
I can't imagine this would interest anyone if it weren't for the fact that the author lives with a world famous musician who heavily promoted it and has her finger in a lot of creative people's pies having worked for them over the years, maybe they owed her a favour in promoting or were just being polite and hadn't read it. Of you're in need of an atypical love story, please read this book. Thanks to Unbound for an ARC of the International Edition of Out of Love.
