On 9 December 2016 the band announced the first string of shows (Which would later be canceled due to "scheduling conflicts".) for the new band along with the album cover and release date for the project's debut album, both set for late February 2017.Crystal Fairy's self-titled album was released on 24 February 2017 via Ipecac. It was quite comfortable working together and things gelled between us instantly.

The whole idea for Crystal Fairy began when The Melvins and Le Butcherettes toured together and The Melvins started doing the song “Rebel Girl” with Teri at the end of their set.
